What is the history and popularity of the app?

MuSweet is a part of the Compuccino company based in Berlin. There are many music themed sites out there, but the creators of Compuccino wanted to build a tool that allows users to monitor not just album releases but social media activity. The result was MuSweet, which lets users quickly monitor their favorite artists and stay up to date on recent comments, articles, and other media.

What are the differences to other apps?

Rather than offering streaming music or focusing on bio information, MuSweet gives users a way to check out relevant, recent activity from their favorite bands and artists via social media. User scan select recent popular topics or follow a specific artist and see what they have been doing and saying online.

How does the web app look and feel to use?

The MuSweet website incorporates a black and grey color scheme highlighted by hints of bright orange. The contrast is nearly delightful and the site is relatively well organized considering the amount of information that passes through it. A row of navigational tabs across the top of the page along with a search bar help users navigate to key areas. They can check out specific artists, topics, media streams, events and analytics tools. The site is stylish and creative without becoming too cluttered.

How does the registration process work?

MuSweet does not currently offer any kind of registration or login option. The site can be accessed by anyone. Users can find social media connections listed under artist profiles, which they can use to add their favorite bands or artists to their groups or favorite lists. However MuSweet itself does not offer anything like that on the site. Users only have to search for their artists and check out recent additions to stay up dated. The addition of an account would be a nice touch so users can save favorite artist and band lists for quick reference later.

What does it cost to use the application?

MuSweet does not require a login, so users can access all features for free. There are no subscription fees or other charges required for using the site. This is a big plus considering the site is purely information in the realm of musical entertainment. MuSweet is currently in beta, so this may change in the future. It would be a plus to see an account feature added so users can quickly find their favorite musicians, however more functionality would be needed to also add paid memberships to the site.

Who would you recommend the application to?

Individuals who love music and love following the gossip behind it could appreciate MuSweet. The site allows users to see which bands have more followers and which have been making the social media headlines.

  • Search for favorite bands or artists by name
  • Check out alphabetical or genre listings
  • Find out which artists have earned the most followers recently
